What is a negative keyword?

In PPC advertising, negative keywords prevent your ads from showing for certain keyword phrases. An example of this would be a pet store that doesn’t sell fish. When creating the search ads for the pet store, you would tell the search engine not to show your ads for searches like “pet store selling fish” or “fish pet store.”
