What is the difference between marketing and advertising?

Marketing is all-encompassing. It can be everything from your signage in front of your building to the texture of your business cards. Marketing doesn’t begin with the purchase of an advertisement; it begins with the research behind that ad. We view marketing as the umbrella term for building how the public sees your company and how you carry out your advertising. Advertising is the process of designing and buying ads; marketing is everything your company does to market to your customers.
