What’s the difference between branding and marketing?

Branding is creating the identity of your business. You need to understand how you fit in the minds of the public and how the public sees you. Your brand is not just your logo, the colors you choose, and your mission statement. It’s how you are defined in the “public’s mind.” You use your brand’s image to direct how you market to your target audience. Marketing is how you position your products and services, get your information and advertisements in front of your target audience, and choosing what sales messaging you use to close the sale. If you start with creating a strong brand and use it to inform your marketing strategy, your business will be more successful.
