Which colors are best for branding?

The psychology of colors in branding is powerful and proven to work. Why do most fast-food restaurants use the colors yellow and red? You would think they would change their brand colors to differentiate themselves. But McDonalds, Sonic, Krystals, Shoneys, Burger King, Hardees, Jacks, Chick-fil-a and so many more use the same warm colors. They all use the same colors because the color red sends the psychological message of excitement and youthfulness, while also generating a subconscious feeling of hunger. These major corporations have invested millions and millions of dollars to research which colors will make them more money. It’s important to note that some colors’ meanings are not universal across cultures. Purple in American means creativity, but in the U.K., it means royalty.
